Voice control is an iOS feature that allows you to make calls, FaceTime video calls, and control music playback by speaking into your phone. If you’re not comfortable using it, you can turn off voice control on your iPhone in two simple ways.
When you first enable Voice Control, you’ll need to download a one-time file from Apple. This download will take a few minutes, and when it’s done, you’ll see a message in the status bar.
1. Go to Settings
Apple introduced Voice Control on its devices a few years ago and it’s a great way to make phone calls, text messages, set reminders, and more. However, it can also be annoying if you find that Siri and Voice Control keep coming up when you’re trying to work on your phone. You can turn off voice control on your iPhone to avoid these interruptions.
To do this, go to the Settings app on your iPhone and tap Accessibility. Then, scroll down to the “Siri” section. Here, you can disable both Siri and Voice Control by tapping Off.
You can also change how pressing and holding the Side button activates Voice Control on your iPhone X or older model. On the newer models, the Home button can no longer be used to activate Siri or Voice Control, so instead, you’ll have to press and hold the Side button for it to work.
If you’re using the iPhone X, you can change this setting by going to the Settings app on your device and tapping Accessibility. Then, scroll down to “Siri” and tap “Off.”
On your previous models of the iPhone, you can change this setting by going to Settings on your device and tapping the “Home Button” sub-section. This will allow you to choose whether the Home button will summon Siri, Classic Voice Control, or nothing at all when you press and hold the Side button.
Once you’ve made your selection, a blue tick will appear next to each option. You can also choose if you want to turn off Siri suggestions.
One of the best things about iOS is that it allows you to control how much power your voice command systems use, which means you can customize them to suit your needs. That said, Siri and Voice Control can eat up a lot of battery power when they’re on all the time. To combat this, you can disable both Siri and Voice Control and use them sparingly when you’re not trying to work on your phone.
You can also use a shortcut on your screen to turn off Voice Control, which works the same as pressing and holding down the Side button. It’s a convenient way to disable Voice Control while keeping it active on the Home screen so you can still use it whenever you need it.
2. Accessibility
If you’ve enabled accessibility on your iPhone, you may want to turn it off from time to time. This can help keep your device running smoothly and prevent any unwanted errors or crashes. There are a few different methods you can use to do this, including voice control and accessibility shortcuts.
Voice control is a feature that allows you to control your iPhone using your voice. It’s especially helpful for people who have disabilities, such as vision or hearing loss, or other health conditions that make it difficult to operate a touchscreen or navigate an app. It can also help you find your phone when you’re not near it, open apps quickly, and more.
You can enable voice control in the Settings app on your iPhone, and it’s also available on iOS Shortcuts. You can also add it to the Control Center.
When you enable accessibility, you can say something like “Speak a button” or “Speak a number” to select an item on the screen. You can also show a grid or names on the screen to speed up your navigation.
To disable access, you can go to Settings and tap Voice Over. You can also try turning it off with Siri or by adding it to an Accessibility Shortcut.
Apple’s accessibility features are a great way to improve your experience on the iPhone, but they can also be a little frustrating. If you have problems using the features, you can try turning them off and re-enabling them later.
Fortunately, it’s easy to do so with a few simple steps. First, you’ll need to make sure that you have enough storage on your iPhone. If you don’t, you can easily delete content to free up space.
You’ll also need to ensure that your iPhone’s battery is charged enough. If it’s not, you can use the power button or the volume buttons on your device to charge it.
There are also several different ways you can turn off voice control on your iPhone, depending on which model you have. For example, on the iPhone X or later, you can change the Side Button setting so that Classic Voice Control doesn’t respond when you press and hold the Side button.
3. Voice Control
The voice control feature on an iPhone can be useful for a variety of purposes, including helping you send text messages, answer questions or find your way around while out and about. However, the feature can be annoying when used in an unfriendly way, and there are a few ways to turn off voice control on your device.
If you want to disable Siri and voice control on your iPhone, you can do so by going into the Settings menu and navigating to the Accessibility section. Then, scroll down until you see the Side Button, and tap this to open it.
Once you’ve tapped on the side button, you’ll be prompted to select one of three options. These are Siri, Classic Voice Control or Off.
On the iPhone X and later models, you can also go to Settings->General->Accessibility->Home Button to disable Siri and voice control. This is because the home button is removed from these newer devices.
In the older models, such as the iPhone 8, you can turn off both Siri and voice control by going into the Settings menu and navigating the Press and Hold to Speak tab. Then, you can choose Siri or Classic Voice Control and then turn off the feature.
When you do this, your iPhone will no longer respond to the tap and hold gesture, which can make it difficult to use for navigation and other functions. This can be particularly problematic if you have a headset on and are trying to listen to music, podcasts or other audio while driving.
Another way to turn off voice control on an iPhone is to go into the Passcode Settings and change it so that you have to enter a password when you unlock your phone. This will prevent the feature from being activated whenever you lock your phone, making it a more secure option.
If you’re still having issues with your voice control, you might need to turn off the feature completely and then upgrade to a newer iOS version. Alternatively, you could use a tool such as Apeaksoft iOS System Recovery to fix your glitches and then restore your iPhone to normal.
4. Home Button
One of the earliest features that Apple added to iOS was Voice Control, which is a great feature for people who don’t like to hold their phone to their ears to speak commands. If you’re having issues with random calls, music or videos playing back incorrectly or your device is accidentally activating Voice Control without you knowing, you may need to turn it off.
If you’re not sure how to do that, here are some quick ways to fix the issue:
1. Try cleaning out your home button
The buttons on iPhones 6s and earlier rely on old-fashioned button technology. A tiny focal point on the button’s opposite side presses against a raised point on a back plate to activate it when you press it. This button is prone to losing screws over time, so a good internal clean will help keep your Home button in working order.
2. Check the mounting bracket
If your iPhone’s physical Home button doesn’t work, it may be because of a problem with the mounting bracket that holds the Taptic Engine in place. This is the area where the button presses against when it depresses, so a few loose screws could make it stop working.
3. Test the button with a new one
If you don’t have a spare, try putting a brand new button on your device. This could be the best way to find out if the problem is with the button itself, as it needs something to press against to work properly.
4. Go into Settings and disable Siri or Voice Control
To disable Siri or Voice Control, you’ll have to open your iPhone’s Settings app and head over to the “Accessibility” section. Once there, scroll down to the “Side Button” option and tap it. You’ll see a pop-up with three options: Siri, Classic Voice Control or Off.
Depending on which option you choose, a blue tick will appear next to the choice. If you want to keep Siri active but disable Voice Control, choose the “Siri” option; if you want to disable both, choose the “Off” option.
