Online personal training has become hugely popular over the last 18 months. With many PTs opting to offer their services virtualy, this can range from a simple online programme with weekly check-in calls or a more comprehensive PT session over Zoom. The best PTs know how to keep their clients accountable without having in person sessions and they’re often good at getting their clients involved and motivated to get their fitness back on track.
Depending on their qualifications, some PTs will also offer a bespoke nutrition programme to go along with the exercise regime. To do this, they will probably need a Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification and may have boosted their knowledge with a Level 4 Nutrition course, to allow them to advise on more than just the basics of a healthy diet and ways to turbo-charge results.
It’s also important for an online PT to have a way of keeping in touch with their client between sessions. This could include sending them a questionnaire, asking them to film their workouts and then giving detailed feedback or even holding regular video check ins with them.
There’s no doubt that online PTs can help to keep their clients motivated and accountable, without the constraints of scheduling in-person appointments with them – which can be difficult to fit around busy lives. However, it’s important to note that a great many people still really benefit from scheduled in-person sessions, with their trainers motivating them through human interaction and refocusing them if they start to lose focus.
